Dear parent/guardian,

There are just two weeks to go to the Christmas break.  Our final day is Fri Dec 23.  The highlight of that day is the annual Grad Christmas Show.  Let's see how the class of 2017 does!!  Tickets will go on sale next week.  All students, friends and family are invited to attend one of the two performances held on Friday morning.
A reminder to continue to encourage your daughter/son to support our Advent charitable giving campaigns.  Students have the chance to support the Mitten Tree (gently used or new winter clothing), Toy Mountain (thru a Pancake Breakfast on Dec 16) and Food Hampers for needy families (homerooms have adopted a family).

We will run StepUP, our after school homework support club, on Wed and Thurs this week in the library (2:45 - 3:45).   These will be the last two sessions before Christmas.   All are welcome to come for help from staff and senior students.  As well our after school Numeracy class for Grade 9 students continues.  This is a chance to get some extra math help.  It is also a useful preparation for the upcoming Gr. 9 EQAO Math test which all Semester One Grade 9 Math students will write in January.  See your math teacher if in Grade 9.

Please note that the exam schedule has been posted on our website.  Exam days are Tues Jan 24 to Fri Jan 27.  The inclement weather day is Tues Jan 31.   Please do not plan for your son or daughter to be away on these days.

Our local city councillor, Riley Brockington, extends an invite to you and your family to his Christmas Social on Tues Dec 13 from 6 - 8 pm at the Carleton Heights Community Centre.

A reminder that if you received an Immunization notice from Ottawa Public Health you are encouraged to follow up on it and get your son or daughter's immunizations or their paperwork up-to-date.  Please contact them at 613-5580-6744 or if you have any questions.  Please don't wait until suspension notices are sent out.  Thanks!

Parents of students in Grade 12 a reminder that applications to Ontario universities are due January 11 and to Ontario colleges by Feb 1.  Students or parents with any questions should contact their guidance counsellor before Dec 23.

Did you know that St. Pius X has a writing club?  Students interested in writing get together at lunch every second Monday with Mr. Walker.  The club has just run a poetry contest.  Congrats to Jacob Parent and Jeta Qela for their winning poems.  In January 2017 the club will be sponsoring a short story contest.
Have a good weekend!
