Dear parent/guardian,

All parents are invited to our next School Council meeting which will take place on Tuesday Oct 25 from 7:00 - 8:30 in the library. All are welcome.

A reminder that our after-school homework help club, StepUp, will begin on Oct 26 and run most Wednesdays and Thursdays through the school year. All students are welcome. There are staff members and senior students available in the library to work with students, helping them get homework done or reviewing material that they are struggling with.

A heads up for parents of students in Gr. 11 and 12 that Pius will be hosting a University Information Night on Wed Oct 26 from 6:00 to 8:30. There will be reps from 21 Ontario universities here to talk about their schools. All are welcome. More detail can be found on the school website, pih.ocsb.ca.

The school board's parent group, CSPA, offers the first of many parent info sessions on Nov 3 at 7:00 pm at St. Paul H.S. The session is called: "Intro to self-regulation-stress behaviour vs misbehaviour" and will be led by Dr. Stuart Shanker. More info on the board website, ocsb.ca or school website,pih.ocsb.ca. Also Frank Ryan will host a parent information session called, "Relationships Matter" which looks at why it is important to connect with our children. It will take place on Tues Nov 15 at 6:30. We are proud to announce that Bishop Christian Riesbeck was chosen as this year's OCSB Distinguished Catholic Alumni. Bishop Riesbeck is a graduate of St. Pius X. He has donated the monetary gift that accompanies the award to Dr. F. J. McDonald Elementary School and St. Pius X. Congratulations to Bishop Riesbeck and thanks for the donation to our school. We are proud of you!

Great job to our Social Justice Club which held their second annual silent auction during Parent-Teacher Interviews. $1858 was raised which will be donated to several different charities including our sister school, Las Vueltas in El Salvador and Free the Children. Thanks to all who made a bid or who donated a raffle item.

Have a great weekend!
