"Dear parent/guardian,

We continued our awareness raising around the issue of drug overdoses and Fentanyl this week with assemblies run by our Rideauwood substance abuse counsellor.  She prepared a presentation that responded to questions that students had about the issue.   A reminder that there is a parent info sheet on the school website  (in the announcements section) and hard copies in the school office.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school. 

A reminder that we will be holding Parent-Teacher interviews on Thurs March 23.  Information about the sign-up process was sent home on Mon March 6 and is also on the website.  Some students will be receiving Letters of Concern from teachers.  These were mailed home on Tuesday March 7.

The "Royals/X-men Canned Food Drive" wrapped up today.  Shepherds of Good Hope received  7,502 food items from SPX and Frank Ryan.  Congratulations to Ms. Stewart's homeroom who were the top homeroom, collecting an average of 37 cans per student.  Mr. Walker's group were second (25) and Mrs. Jennings was third (13).  Congratulations to these homerooms for leading the way and to our student council for organizing this charity work.  Thanks to all who supported this year's food drive.

St. Pius X has partnered with Ken's Academy and Cultural Exchange to offer student exchanges to Spain for interested students.  The deadline for applying for next year is Mon Mar 20.  You can get information about the program by contacting the company rep, Melissa Moloney, at

CSPA, the OCSB's parent group, presents an info night for parents, "Special Education and Your Child", on Mon March 27 at 6:30 at St. Patrick H.S.  Check out the school board website for more info.  There will also be a parent info night on "Cyberbullying", on Thurs March 30 at 6:30 at Ben Franklin Place.  More info by emailing:  Finally the school board and Ottawa Public Health will present a parent info night on the subject of Fentanyl and Opioids.  It will take place on Mon Apr 3 at St. Paul HS starting at 7:00 pm.

Finally our next school council meeting will take place on Tues March 21 from 7:00 to 8:30 in the school library.  We will discuss school budgeting and the fentanyl situation amongst other topics.  All are welcome.
