Safe School Update

Today, Wed Oct. 22, all schools in the city put in place their Secure School procedure as directed by the Ottawa Police Services and our school board.  This was due to events taking place in downtown Ottawa, not anything to do with our specific school.   We were in Secure School from approximately 10:40 until 11:15.  During Secure School all staff and students remain in a locked classroom, all entrances to the school are locked and movement within the building is limited.  Within the classroom regular activities continue.  In a situation where there is a confirmed and imminent threat to the school we would move into Lockdown where students and staff are in a locked room, with lights off, windows covered, out of line of sight of the door and remaining quiet.   These procedures are practiced with students each school year.

The school board also made a decision to cancel all after school activities and Community Use of School permits  for all school board sites for the evening.  At this point all activities planned for Thurs Oct 23 will proceed as scheduled.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.
